We want all our visitors to thoroughly enjoy the whole experience of a visit to Kayes. Our aim is to provide delicious, high quality food with an emphasis on flavour and presentation.
Our food is locally sourced and organic where possible and we pay great attention to detail. Being foodies ourselves we know the importance of texture and flavour. Whether you enjoy rich, dark coffee or chilled sparkling water, hot wholesome soup or zesty lemon cake – we aim to have a something to suit everyone.
Wherever possible we try to buy our ingredients close to home. We use organic milk and cream from Low Sizergh Barn and sell English Lakes Ice Cream made with organic milk. All the eggs we use in our baking are free range and organic - they have lovely, rich yellow yolks and a tasty flavour.
Many of our cakes are baked on site using organically grown English grain from 'The Watermill' – a small, traditional mill set in the Eden Valley. The extensive coffee menu uses freshly roasted beans from Atkinsons of Lancaster and our soft drinks are sourced locally where possible.
The terrace faces west, looking over Reginald Kaye's limestone garden (currently being restored) and out to a perfect view of the Kent Estuary. Blending classic themes with contemporary style, the Tea Rooms provide a tranquil space in which to relax, reflect, indulge and enjoy.
